Unique e-commerce site celebrates milestone with over 50,000 products for sale from independent retailers across the UK.
The Neartoo.co.uk website launched to the public in March and was designed to capture shopping trends and help independent stores recover from the pandemic.
The platform already has hundreds of stores signed up, which has allowed them to complement their physical stores, but also give them a chance to grow and grow their business, either by helping them log in for the first time, either helping their current online offering by giving a bigger and broader platform.
For shoppers, it also let them know they are buying locally, as every Neartoo seller has been carefully vetted by the British Independent Retailers Association (Bira) who are behind the website. It also lets them know which stores they are “nearby” and encourages them to explore more local stores where they live or visit.
Jayne Weldon, eCommerce Manager for Neartoo.co.uk, said: “We are just delighted to now have over 50,000 products available for our shoppers to browse and buy on our website, which is online for just over four months now.
“What’s really encouraging is that we not only have great gifts, toys, clothing and homewares, but also niche and rare products such as unusual lego bricks, books and even beers – so there’s definitely a taste for that.
“We will continue to grow the products available while recruiting more freelancers across the country and also raising our profile so more people know about us and show their support for small businesses in their communities.”
The website ensures that each retailer has their own individual profile and allows store owners to sync their existing online retail profile or create their own through the platform if they do not yet have the means to create one. online presence.
Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre added: “We were aware that this platform was owned by freelancers and both addressed societal change, but also gave them access to new ways to sell to their customers, and one that be profitable.
“It’s so encouraging that we already have so many products on offer and new stores signing up every week, so we hope to continue this upward trend over the summer months and make this site a success for our important independents who keep our main streets alive.”
