Edited photo is shared as Akshay Kumar promotes online trading app

An image is shared on social media in which Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar can be seen holding a sign and promoting an online trading app. The sign reads – “Deposit 20Rs – Daily income 2000Rs”. Some users trolled Akshay Kumar for this endorsement. Let’s check if he actually promoted this app.

Do: The original photo of Akshay Kumar holding a sign was shared by himself via his Twitter account on April 09, 2020. Here, the sign reads “#DilSe ThankYou”. This image has been transformed and then edited to look like an ad promoting an online trading app. Also, there is no evidence that Akshay Kumar endorses this app. Therefore, the claim made in this post is FAKE.

We did a reverse image search and found a photo of Akshay Kumar holding a sign that read “#DILSE THANK YOU”. The search results can be viewed here.

Upon further investigation, we discovered that he had first shared this photo on his Twitter account on April 09, 2020, to thank the frontline warriors of COVID-19 for their work during the first confinement.

The content of the sign is modified and then presented as an advertisement for an online trading application. A similar transformed image can be seen here.

Also, there is no statement from Akshay Kumar regarding the approval of online trading apps.
