On Saturday, some traders packed their bags and began to drive away with their wares. Other traders are waiting for confirmed information about the cancellation of Numaish or All India Industrial Exhibition 2022. While other traders are trying to sell their wares through social media. An air of uncertainty gripped the Numaish in Nampally after word spread that the exhibition was closed.
“The Commissioner of Police has issued closure orders until January 10. Everything else is just rumour,” said Aditya Margam of Exhibition Society.
“I have set up my stand and I am waiting for January 10 for the exhibition to resume. Even on the day people were allowed in, there was very good mask and sanitization screening. I hope they will reopen on January 10,” says Mehboob who set up the badam ki jaali stall, a local hit.
One of the dried fruit traders in Kashmir shared on social media the losses if the exhibition was closed early. The call blitz knocked out the merchant’s phone.
“My stall is ready but I haven’t unloaded the stock. My losses would increase if I unloaded the stock and the exposure did not take place. They should allow it for a few hours for a few weeks,” said Vikas Jain, a sari trader from Secunderabad who prepared his stall near Gate 2.
