Online shopping

TECHNOBABBLE: Online shopping successes also open the door to scams | Local

The internet was considered a fad when it became popular in the 1990s. Many companies didn’t pay much attention to it, got left behind and caught up with it because of their attitude.

Google replaced Microsoft as the company with the most widely used operating system in the world (Android). Amazon started with books and eventually branched out into everything online and is now the king of online shopping (the company still only has a small percentage of all retail businesses, but they have most online purchases). Amazon has built an incredible network of warehouses, started using its own delivery drivers, and smoothed out logistics over the past 20 years, and it’s all paid off during the pandemic. Both Walmart and Target saw big drops in sales because people just didn’t go to the store, they learned how to buy things online, and the online store most people buy from is Amazon.
